Tokyo is a city so vast that you could eat at a new restaurant every night and still not get through them all. It is truly a culinary wonderland. The food is almost always delicious.
There are areas in Tokyo with a higher concentration of Michelin Star restaurants than any where else on the planet. There is a huge range in price all the way from ¥400 udon masterpieces to ¥10,000 sashimi wonders.
Don't be shy about walking into restaurants in quiet suburbs. Almost everything is amazing. We always follow the strategy of follow the queues as long as the restaurant isn't a chain. Sometimes the chains have amazing marketing so theyu end up with queues but the food is nothing special. If you ever see a queue outside a small suburban ramen joint make sure you go in. You will be in for a treat!
